The mountains can be at their best under winter conditions. A firm layer of snow with clear blue skies, crisp mountain air and cloud filled valleys below. However these conditions need specific tools and techniques in order to enjoy them safely. Our courses are designed to cater for all abilities from the novice winter walker through to those wanting to improve their ice climbing skills. Designed for those with experience of summer hill walking, this 4 day course introduces winter novices to the techniques and equipment required to venture into the mountains under snow or icy conditions and allows you to apply your new found skills on the best of the West Highland Munros.
The reality is that under winter conditions, the UK mountains can be killers. With temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees and visibility down to the end of your nose, the ability to stay on track and away from danger is not just an advantage, but essential.
