Our Mountain Leader Refresher Workshops are tailor made to help you brush up on some of the more difficult aspects of the assessment. Choose from ML Assessment Preparation, Navigation, Ropework or Leadership.

ML Assessment Preparation Day

A whole day of preparation, guidance and top tips aimed at making you a lot more confidence for your forthcoming assessment.  Also you will receive detailed feedback about your skills and what you may need to work on prior to your ML Assessment. We will be passing on years of wisdom on navigation, steep ground work and leadership, but all aspects of the syllabus will be discussed during the day along with any questions about ML Assessment Courses you may have.This course would also benefit those who completed their Mountain Leader Assessment some time ago, who are looking to keep up to date.

SLICK Navigation for Mountain Leaders

This very popular workshop is aimed that those who would like to improve their navigational skills, strategies and confidnece. You may have qualified a few years ago and want to brush up, or have your assessment coming up soon and want to be confident, slick and efficient. MIA trainees will find the day highly relevant for their navigation test too. We aim to cover: map interpretation, route choices, efficient strategies, thinking ahead and importantly preventing and recovering from mistakes.  Above all you will be coached to develop your own clear and reliable strategies for navigating to isolated features in complex terrain.

Ropework for Mountain Leaders made SIMPLE

You may have qualified a few years ago and want to keep up to date, or have your assessment coming up soon and want to be slick and efficient. This much in demand workshop aims to cover: anchor selection, knots, direct and indirect belaying, group management, leader's descent, lowering, confidence roping. Above all you will develop your own clear methods for efficient problem solving with the use of a rope.

Leadership Refresher

A course for candidates who want to improve their leadership abilities - an area commonly found to be lacking on Assessment Courses. We aim to cover a range of leadership strategies in a variety of terrain and situations in the mountains.
