Single Pitch Award Training

The Lake District has a great range of crags from which to run Single Pitch Award courses and we are able to select the best venues according to the conditions and the time of year.  All courses are run by very experienced and friendly instructors and will be tailored to the needs of the candidates, in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

This Award Scheme is for those who are in a position of responsibility during single pitch rock climbing activities. It is primarily concerned with good practice, leading to the safe and quiet enjoyment of the activity. Whilst the training element of the scheme is not a qualification in itself, this training course will be of considerable benefit to participants' level of climbing knowledge.

The course will cover three main areas:

TECHNICAL COMPETENCE
Equipment, Anchors, Belaying, Abseiling, Personal climbing skills, Background knowledge.

THE CLIMBING ENVIRONMENT
Access, Conservation, Etiquette,

SUPERVISION
Organisation and planning, Group Management, Supervising the session, Personal Safety, Children and Vulnerable Persons

 

 

 

 

 

 

Previous experience required: Led 15 graded outdoor climbs with leader placed protection. You must be registered with the MLTE.
Duration: 2 days and an evening.
Cost: £140
Dates 2010:  19 - 20 Jan (full)  16-17 March (full)   19-20 May   1-2 June   28-29 August   6-7 Oct    and on request.
